Requirements gathering sample template

What is the main use of Requirements documents? What are its elements and components?

 

Requirements documents follow basic templates that are given by organization. Meaning to say, these requirements templates are organization specific. Every company has its own template with different fields. It all depends upon the type of organization, e.g.: a pharmacy company may have different fields in the requirement document where as a oil industry might use different kind of template. But the basic and very common template that contains the below fields.

 

-Scope of the project,

-Author (who is writing the requirements)

-Date of creation:

-Reviewer (normally once the requirements doc is created, it will be reviewed by some В one in the team or a manager for the team):

- Objective of the requirements

-Any functional assumptions

- Technical assumptions

-В  Risks involved and any dependencies

- Business summary

- Any references

- Use cases

- End user analysis

 

These requirements documents are basically known as Requirements documents, Requirements gathering, Business requirements documents (BRD),В  Software requirements Specification (SRS) etc.. A Business Analyst must have complete understanding of all templates.
